Shahid Nazir, is a self-taught artist who has recently gained recognition for his impressive pencil sketches of human faces. Although he is currently pursuing a degree in Medical Lab Technology at Govt Medical college, Shahid has found time to explore his newfound passion for the arts.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, many individuals have turned to new hobbies and interests to pass the time during lockdowns and stay-at-home orders. For one young man in Makhama, district Budgam, this time provided the perfect opportunity to discover a hidden talent in the arts.
Shahid explains that he began drawing during the lockdown in 2020, when he found himself with more free time than usual. "I've always been interested in art, but I never had the time to really focus on it until now," he says. "I started sketching
and drawing, and I found that I really enjoyed it."
Since then, Shahid has continued to hone his skills and create stunning pencil portraits of people's faces. His portraits are incredibly lifelike, with an attention to detail that is truly remarkable for someone who is self-taught.
Despite his success as an artist, Shahid remains humble and is quick to credit his family and friends for their support. "I wouldn't be where I am today without the encouragement of my loved ones," he says.
Shahid's work has garnered attention not only from his personal circle, but also from the wider community. Many people have been impressed by his talent and have reached out to him to request commissions or to simply express their admiration for his work.
Looking ahead, Shahid is eager to continue pursuing his passion for art while also completing his studies. He hopes to continue improving his skills and expanding his portfolio of work. "I want to keep pushing myself and see how far I can go with my art," he says.
For now, Shahid remains a shining example of how creativity and perseverance can flourish even in the most challenging of times.
