Wajeeha Ali: A Kashmiri girl conquering new heights in media

Wajeeha Ali, a resident of Srinagar and originally from North Kashmir's Kupwara district, but born and brought up in Srinagar. Wajeeha Ali is a young and talented girl who has made her mark in both the media and mountaineering fields.

In 2014, Wajeeha represented Jammu and Kashmir in the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute Darjeeling as a trainee of the basic mountaineering course, where she successfully submitted Peak Renok, which stands tall at 16,500 feet.

Wajeeha completed her basic education from New Caset and Modern Public School at the secondary level at Kothibhagh. She then pursued her college education at Nawakadal before completing her Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Kashmir.

After completing her education, Wajeeha got selected in ETV Bharat, but due to restrictions on hijab, she couldn't join. However, she didn't give up and cleared the audition of ANN News TV channel, which is the first and only TV channel in Kashmir. She has been working there for the past two years

Wajeeha's dedication and passion for journalism have been well recognized, and she has hosted ANN's Prime Time program for eight months, which has gained immense popularity in Kashmir. She has also received the Director General's commendation card for her achievements in mountaineering.

In addition to her work in the media, Wajeeha is also a lover of poetry and enjoys reading the works of Rumi and Iqbal. She writes poetry herself in Urdu and the Kashmiri language.

Wajeeha is also an avid skier and has showcased her skills on the slopes. She is currently working at Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, where she hosts the Krishi Darshan program by going into the field and speaking with progressive farmers.

Moreover, Wajeeha manages her own media page named Kashmirnama on Facebook, where she shares news and updates from Kashmir.

In a statement to the media, Wajeeha said, "I believe in hard work and dedication, and I want to inspire other young women from Kashmir to follow their dreams and achieve their goals. Whether it's in media or mountaineering or any other field, we must strive to make our mark and break stereotypes."
