Reviving the Lost Art of Calligraphy: Tishya Pansari’s Mission to Keep Tradition Alive

In a world dominated by digital communication, where messages are typed and sent with the click of a button, Tishya Pansari is on a mission to breathe life back into the age-old art of calligraphy. A passionate artist, Tishya is determined to preserve and promote this elegant craft that turns simple words into visual masterpieces.

A Childhood Passion Turned Lifelong Commitment

Tishya’s love affair with calligraphy began early. Her initial intent behind learning calligraphy was to increase her project grades. It would only be months later that she realised it is an art form, a way to express herself creatively through each delicate stroke of the pen. She quickly realized that this was something she wanted to explore deeper.

“I started learning calligraphy in Class 6 to improve my schoolwork. What began as a desire for higher grades soon turned into a passion,” she recalls.

As her skills grew, so did her desire to share her work. Tishya began showcasing her creations on social media, gaining attention for her intricate designs and personalized pieces. However, she also noticed something troubling—there was a lack of quality calligraphy services in her region, particularly in Eastern India. While many people were eager to learn, few had access to the proper resources or knowledge.

Recognizing this gap in the market, Tishya decided to take action. In 2021, she founded "The Calligraphy Square," an online platform aimed at providing accurate information, resources, and support for calligraphers at all levels. The platform has since become a thriving community for calligraphy enthusiasts, offering a space to learn, share, and grow.

“I didn’t want to keep my knowledge and resources to myself. I wanted to share them with everyone so they wouldn’t have to go through the difficult path I did,” says Tishya. “I want to revive calligraphy and make sure it’s not forgotten.”

Through her platform, Tishya offers a wide range of services, from personalized handwritten letters and engraved keepsakes to custom art pieces that add a touch of elegance to any occasion. Her attention to detail and commitment to quality have set her apart from others in the field, and she’s quickly becoming a sought-after name in the world of luxury calligraphy.

Making Calligraphy Relevant in a Digital World

For Tishya, calligraphy is more than just ink on paper. It’s a way to slow down and appreciate the beauty of handcrafted art in an increasingly fast-paced, technology-driven world. By offering bespoke services, Tishya is helping individuals and brands alike connect with their audiences in a more personal and meaningful way.

Her work is not limited to paper. Tishya’s artistry extends to materials such as glass, wood, and acrylic, offering clients unique, one-of-a-kind creations that make lasting memories.

“As the world becomes more digital, there’s something very special about receiving a handwritten letter or a personalized gift. It adds a human touch that we’re missing in so many of our interactions today,” she explains.

While Tishya is preparing to start her undergraduate studies in the United States, her commitment to calligraphy remains unwavering. She sees vast potential for the art form, especially in her hometown of Kolkata, where she plans to continue expanding her platform.

Her ultimate goal? To create the world’s largest and most supportive community for calligraphers. With The Calligraphy Square, Tishya hopes to not only preserve the craft but also inspire the next generation of artists to pick up a pen and keep the tradition alive.

In a world that’s constantly evolving, Tishya Pansari is ensuring that the timeless art of calligraphy remains a cherished part of our cultural heritage
